sr20 question

Ok, so my friend tells me that sr20det engines are so unrealble because his friend got a swap and he is basicly having non stop troubles, i keep telling him that, bad swap or bad deal on engine, iv read alot aobut sr20dets and it sais they are very reliable engines, can some1 give me some feedback, by end the begening of next summer il want adleast 300 rwh on my s14, is it hard to maintain that HP?

More depends on who does the swap .... and if a good engine was purchased ...Like any car if it wasnt maintained it wont last ... and if some moron did the swap it will have lots off issues ... ALL of the SR swaps I have done have ran good .... and have not had any issues ....... I have had to fix a few that have been done by people that dont know what they are doing .... there is a bunch of things that can be done wrong !! Obviously if any modifications are done you always run the risk of premature wear on the engine ..... They have been known to have rod bearing issues , but alot of the engines from Japan have that ... They just dont change there oil as much as we do ...And if you do the rod bearing when you do the swap you wont have to worry about that ....

Now .... My Opinion ..... Turbo that KA and you will have more power for less $$ and you will know how well the engine has been maintained ....

The problem is the KA motors, around my area all have 100k+ miles, so i have no idea how well maintained they are, is there a better alternative for the Rod bearing, and about a swap, i have no idea whod oes good swaps around here in chicago, but i know some1 who does alot of h22 swaps and so on(he is a mechanic) so i might just do it with him, i dont know any1 else who got engine swaping experience, i still want a sr20 in the s14, with some upgrades it should last, it will be my weekend driver, and basicly no driving in the winter, ofcourse over winter il want to upgrade the turbo and put an IC in there, still need to read up on what best Fuel managment system to use..

Any other parts i should change, so for i got, Oil pan, then i found ROD bearings for 35$, I read somewhere but i cant remeber, top and bottom gaskets, im still trying to find out wut to change, then il buy the S3 cams, and if i go internal wut else should i do there, new springs maybe? dont have unlimited funds s3 cams, and would like that to be it.

Also i read about you can boost stock sr turbo up to like 13 psi and make 250rwhp, did i missunderstood something there?

Any info would be great. thanx
