Daytime running lights

Hello Guys,
Does anyone know how to activate the Daytime Running Lights on the 2007 Altima. I moved from US to Canada and looking to import my car to Canada. I have to pass the canadian standards to register my car here. How difficult is it to activate the DRL.....Can I activate them on my own or do I need to go to a service garage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Move back to the US.

To the best of my knowledge DRL's are not required on US vehicles.
Sounds like you should call a Nissan dealer in Canada. They should be able to help you.

The dealership can use the Consult III to go into the BCM and turn on the DTRL option. Fairly easy but they may charge you the fee for 1 hour labor.

Thanks ADAMECHANIC. I spoke to the Nissan Dealership and they said that your car doesn't even have the DRL lamps so they can't do anything. Canadian Tire says that they have to install a module to turn DRL on.

So, do US cars have the DRL lamps or not?...I am totally confused.

I'll look more into it on Monday when I go to work. I'm fairly certain you simply activate the IPDM and BCM to operate them. You may have to install a relay though. I'll check and let you know.

Some US cars have DRL. I had a 08 Civic and that had DRLs. It was either when you turned on the car or had the parking break down (can't remember exactly) the DRLs would come on if your headlights weren't already on. The US Altima doesn't have this.

This shouldn't be too difficult to do. There is a dealer here in Vegas that installs DRLs on all their new cars. Mostly so they can charge for something you didn't ask for, but whatever. It can be done to US spec cars. Just need the right kit.

I checked on this. It has to be activated in the BCM like I said and a specialized relay has to be installe into the harness up by the washer fluid neck. Per Nissan North America that relay is not for sale or distribution in the United States. You must take your car to a Canadian dealer to have this performed. I was also told that the DTRL's are your brights at half voltage so it is a relay different from any we have. I couldn't even get a part number from them. Sorry and good luck.

Thanks ADAMECHANIC. I got the DRL finally installed from Canadian Tire as they were the cheapest. It cost me $190 total for both parts and labour included. The Nissan dealership was asking for $400 for the same. Hopefully this helps peepz who bring Vehicles from US to Canada in future.

I appreciate the replies from other Altima owners.

I disabled my DRL, I removed the fuse as I like to run with just parking lights or the HID's. and Im prety sure you dont need DRL's for a safety inspection, but it could be different for bringing cars into Canada.
