Thanks Phil. They look even better with my eyelids installed over them and the eyelid's don't affect the cutoff at all.

Yes, yes I do. Unfortunately I think that had these projector's not come on the market I would have ended up paying a professional to do it. These projectors are very DIY friendly as you know.
My high/low issue was solved by swapping the high and low beam pins on the TRS harness. Once the pins were swapped my high beam indicator went off and my low's and high's functioned as they should.
If you should need to swap pins on your harness take a paperclip or a precision flathead screw driver and looking into the TRS harness you will see a very small tab under the actual pin. Push the pin in from the back of the connector, depress the tab, and then pull the pin out. It may take a few tries but it will release.
Once I got my low and high beams sorted I removed my eyelids from my old housings and reapplied them onto these new ones.
Then it was time to take a daytime shot with the low's and fog's on.
And as promised proper output and cutoff shots. Excuse the pictures, they're with the 5MP camera on my phone.
Side shot low beam cutoff.
Forward facing low beam cutoff
Forward facing high beam cutoff.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this and hopefully this benefits someone in the future to take the plunge and attempt this. I think this is one of my favorite mod's up until this point and driving at night is much more enjoyable now that I know I can see and not negatively affect traffic around me.
love the Transformer look projectors give. car looks alive almost.
you get a fukinc A!
i'll definitely look to this for my install...
one thing though? halos? why you skipped on em?

Thanks Jae. I thought you would've chimed in on this thread earlier. I remember you talking about retroing not to long ago. What happened with that? Just get put on the back burner?
And I wasn't sure about halos with our housings to be honest. I thought about em and thought about em. I even went and found a DIY to make LED halo's so I could make em amber and use those as parking lights instead of the regular bulbs but I didn't think they'd look right. that couple with how fragile they are I didn't want to spend the money on them only to break one or not like the finished look.
If you're interested in making your own, here's the video I found.
So, in conclusion I just want to touch on how to properly aim a projector.
Assuming you have the rotation of the projector correct and they are pointing relatively straight ahead the final piece of adjustment and arguably the most important is the vertical one. Some people argue to adjust them via the drivers cutoff and some argue to adjust them by the passengers cutoff. I personally adjust via the drivers cutoff since that is the one that will be offending oncoming traffic the most if misaligned. The argument against this is that adjusting via the drivers side will limit your ability to see down the road since the projectors will be aimed lower than if you had adjusted based on the passenger side.
DOT spec is at a distance of 25' across a perfectly level surface and projecting onto a perfectly flat wall the drivers side projector should drop 2.1-2.5".
When aiming both projectors you want the end result to look like,
____/----_____/-----
Here are a couple links I pulled from HID Planet describing this.
This last link is the link to the JnC method of mounting and aiming projectors that I talked about earlier. This method allows you to mount a projector to the housing without using the halogen reflector bowl and with an ingenious bracket setup gives you full adjust-ability, up, down, left, right, some clockwise, and counterclockwise rotation.
Now that you have projectors installed in your housings adjusting them properly is key! You want to be able to take full advantage of the added visibility they give. But there is a fine line between lighting up the road and being a hazard to the surrounding traffic. Because a projector focuses the light so well a mistake here is 10x worse than a PnP kit. Ever been high beamed by an Acura TL? Imagine that coming at you because the driver didn't align their projectors properly. Also imagine the opposite, aiming them to low will result in little to no visibility because there is very little bleed above the cutoff line on each projector.
In conclusion, good luck to all who attempt this. Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't be afraid to take a look over on HID Planet. There are hundreds of members over there who are very very intelligent when it comes to HID's, projectors, and just about any lighting upgrade in general. I read threads on there for a good two weeks before I even bought the housings I used, and then I kept on reading until I actually installed the projectors.
The Retrofit Source has made this mod relatively easy. In fact, their side of it is just about fool proof. The only difficult part we run into is cutting our headlamps because they are just so small. But if you take your time this mod is more intimidation than anything. I sincerely believe that if you look at what cuts were made and where they were made the hardest part about this is baking open the headlamps and not getting the butyl sealant all over your hands and the lens of the housing.
yeah, back burner, for now. im in pay down debt mode currently. just paid $1000 my last payroll, this next one another $760 will go towards loans. then its credit cards. clearing way for some major moves
got about $3200 in debt to knock out 1st and foremost.
i'll get that 5 spd swap done finally. some cams, Miami's mani and projectors will be next, more then likely.
i think im going to try halos. love that bimmer look.
your car is taking over bro, making major moves! i like it!

I hear you on paying down debt. If my tax return goes through as planned I'll still be stepping up the Alty and paying off some debt at the same time.
But good luck on the 5 spd swap and Miami's mani.
Like I said before, the projectors are more intimidation than anything. The worst part really is the cutting of the housings. But if you take your time you'll be fine.
Hey congrats on the install, turned out nice! I haven't touched mine since I installed them in over a year. Just the occasional DEPO headlight polish which I need to do sometime but the Morimotos are just so freaking bright I don't even think about polishing the lenses...
As much as I'm ready for something else, every time I get in this little car, I can't help but have a little fun with it, it's like a little go kart...
Had to jump into traffic this morning and forgot about the 4.08 gearing as the engine bounced off the rev limiter about 4 times before I realized what happened. What 1st gear lol??
Keep up the good work dude, I don't plan on pulling my lenses for anything until I throw them into another car or something....
Shoot some night pics, just watch your shutter speed or if no manual controls, try a sport setting...

Thanks.
Unfortunately the only camera I have is the 5MP on my phone which takes decent day shots, but as you can see with the night shots I posted, the quality kinda suffers.
just found out that in 2 hours I will be dressing up like justin effing bieber and lip syncing to one of his songs at a damn pep rally in front of the entire school.....fml
curious, has anyone ever made projector fog lights? lol
