3rd Brake Light Replacement

Hey guys. Been looking around for a replacement for my Altima's 3rd brake light. Any places out there sell LED strips that fit inside the original housing for a 2008 Altima (not just a crappy LED bulb that's dim during daytime hours)?

Any cars have LED high mount brake lights that would fit an 08 Altima? like a high mount brake light for a Altima Coupe or Maxima?

Coming back to this. Anyone have any suggestions? Would an LED bulb be brighter than Halogen?

Did you private message BT as suggested? If anyone here would have an answer it would be him.

yes an LED bulb would be brighter and last longer than a regular tungsten bulb. Also depends on how many SMT LEDs on that bulb that you get that determines the brightness. On mine, I have 44 SMTs and decided to go with a 6k white bulb instead of red since I didn't know what shade of red that bulb would be and if it would look odd from the oem red plastic piece

Sorry, coming back to this. I'm only intrigued by it because on my older '04 Mazda3 that I had, I was able to order a replacement lighting unit to go in my 3rd brake light that had many LED bulbs in it. Is there any replacements for a 2008 Altima's high mount brake light to have LEDs (not the cheap LED light bulbs found on most sights. I find those to be very dull during the day).

My other thought was somehow modifying an '09 Coupe's light to fit in my '08 sedan somehow. Think that's possible?

Any other recommendations?

Hey DLS. I did PM BT and he recommended that I get some lights like: 2 20 pcs 9W LED High Power Eagle Eye Rear Back Up Reverse Tail Light Lamp New | eBay

I ended up getting a red one of these, however it does not fit in the light bulb housing on my car, so it's just sitting in my house. The only way I could fit it inside the light mounting is to drill the hole where the bulb goes. Even then, it would not be held into place, it would just be rolling around in there.

what also depends on the brightness is if you had the rear windshield tinted. If the shop tinted the entire windshield, then even with the brightest bulb, it may not shine so bright through your tint unless you specified that the rear tint stencil out the area where the 3rd brake light shines through.

I hadn't realized until I had it done that my entire rear windshield was tinted. I have a 68 SMT LED bulb for my 3rd brake light but I'm not concerned that it isn't the brightest. My black matrix Depo tail lights are super bright anyways!! I know this because people behind me stop like 1-2 car lengths back!!
