Wink 8000K HID Xenon Headlights in my '06 Altima SL 3.5L

**MY NEW PROJECT**

I want to put some new badass 8000K HID Xenon Headlights in my baby.

She's a Midnight Metallic Blue, 2006 Nissan Altima SL 3.5L. The factory lights look terrible due to condensation. I want the bluish hue of the 8000K.

I don't really care if they are legal or not. I have a feeling I could talk my way out of that one.

I don't know if I should do the fog, high, and low all at the same time.

Anyone?

Ugh. . .badass and 8000k, really?

Do yourself and everyone else on the road a favor, and at least pick up a MH1 retro kit.

why put yourself in that situation with the cops?? Just stick with diamond white or pure white..5k or 6k. What if you can't talk yourself out of a ticket?? then it's more money down the drain with a fix-it ticket and possibly removing your HIDs and sticking with halogens because the cops say you have to stick with them!!

Go with the highest Kelvin available. While you're at it, be sure that it's 55 watts. 35 watts are for pussies.

Also invest in 9 inch round roof rack lights and extra auxiliary flood lights.

Please don't be "that guy". Unless you do a retrofit to get past your current reflectors you will blind everyone creating major annoyances at best causing an accident at worst. Even with a retrofit your color choice will create many of the same dangerous issues (why do you think this is illegal?).

I used to live in the Seattle area, and I very much doubt you can talk yourself out of a ticket there.

I know for sure in the area of Washington State I now live you will NOT talk yourself out of a ticket, and you should hope that the cops get you first. There are enough redneck's around here that if you were to drive a stupid-ass rig like your're suggesting they would turn their truck around, hunt you down and take a tire iron to the front of your car. (and you better hope they stop there)

Rednecks don't like almost ending up in ditches because of stupid lighting mods to (in their minds) ricer cars.

There are better ways to deal with condensation ... I'm just sayin' ...

Oh and to the rednecks out there ... some of you are some of my best friends so don't come a-huntin' for me! <grin>

There is a considerable difference visually between 6K and 8K however. The higher the Kelvin temperature the more "difference" humans perceive.

By that I mean human eyes will not a difference between say 4K and 6K (a 2K change). Then when observing a difference between 6K and 8K (same 2K difference) we will perceive that the difference is more pronounced. This according to my photography crazy friends who spend more on camera bodies in a year than I do on my car.

Just because you didn't get flashed doesn't mean that it wasn't distracting to other drivers.

what isn't distracting these days... everytime i see a lowed car or a christmas light on a house i like to look at it. i see plenty of vehicles with HIDs all the time anyway and i don't bitch and moan or run off the road. if someone runs off the road due to my HIDs then they need to learn to drive and btw if your lowered then you won't have as much of a blinding effect also.

What isn't distracting is an OE halogen/HID setup or a properly aimed retrofit.

This is why your setup is distracting and also illegal,
HID plug n play fails govt test

+1 to Stanza, any of the high intensity systems in place are fine, when they are properly done (proper bulb/reflector setup and properly aimed). Great link by the way.

I'm glad you like to look at Christmas lights and lowered cars, I do too, but that personal choice does not even remotely support your proposition that unsafe and illegal HID's should require others to "learn to drive".

There is a huge difference between being forced to deal with blinding, unsafe light beamed directly into the drivers eyes and Christmas lights or a lowered car. A driver can choose to ignore these, they can't ignore a vehicle beaming high intensity glare into their windshield.

Many of the roads I drive are winding and narrow with little to no shoulder and bordered with deep ditches. Improperly set up HID's are a severe danger to those who are forced to drive toward them. There is little room for error and I have witnessed many "near misses" with the edges of roads ... especially when larger rigs are working their way along the roadways.

I can't believe you really mean to say that others should "suffer / change their ways / bear the costs" of your actions like it seems you are saying in your post. That attitude would be abjectly arrogant and immensely ignorant.

Thanks.

And you said exactly what I wanted to say, just a hell of a lot nicer. After hanging out on HID Planet and doing a few proper retrofits for my car I'm very much no longer tolerant of PnP setups.
