HID Headlights and Foglights help

Hey guys.. new to this forum.. I've been here a few times in the past years though and found some great help articles/threads so I have a question and finally decided to join.. I look forward to getting some advice/help as well as contributing back wherever I can.

So anyways..
I'm looking to upgrade my stock halogen headlights and fog lights to HIDs. I've already did a lot of research from here on the headlights.. I'm going to be doing a retrofit which shouldn't be too hard since I'm pretty handy.
For headlights I'm going with the BI-XENON MORIMOTO MINI STAGE III KIT (H1) (with the Halo option) Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit (H1) - Complete Retrofit Kits from The Retrofit Source Inc

Question.. 1) I'm not very good when it comes to wiring… Do I need any kind of relay or any extra wiring with this kit or is it all complete plug n play to the harness?
2) Will I lose my auto on/off function to the headlights when I switch to HIDs?.. I remember reading a few years back that I will.

Fog lights.. I'm still kind of lost on and could use some advice.
Do I just use the stock oem fog light housing? or is there also some type of way to retrofit or aftermarket lights? From what I read so far I think the best solution was stock oem housing with the HID kit.. I'm thinking of sticking with the same brand H11: Morimoto Elite HID System - HID Systems from The Retrofit Source Inc The H11 bulb in that picture looks pretty long to me though.

Go easy on me please.. I tried reading/researching as much as I could I'm a newb, up to this point I've been using Luminics for everything.

looks like the kit has everything u need in there. u should be fine with the stock housing for the fogs. u could always go with a cheaper kit for the fogs since its not too big a deal if one of the ballast goes bad on fogs, u could just drive w/o the fog lights until u get a new one. as far as the auto on/off, i dont see why it wouldnt work with the hid kit. it works with the stock hids, so i dont see why not with a kit.

Ok thanks.. Yea thats true about the fogs, I guess I could go cheaper.. I just didn't want to have to go through the hassle of constantly fixing things.. one of the reasons I'm fed up with the Luminics.. sometimes they last me a year or more, other times they blow out every few months.

I'm definitely doing the headlights.. I'm just still thinking/reading if I should do the fogs as well.

I'm not sure about the TRS kit's wiring, never used their kits, I've just heard nothing but good about them though. ($$ is the reason I've stayed clear - not in my budget)

However, I can say the Auto on/off will still work, no reason for it not too, and for the fog lights the stock housings should definitely be good enough. I would stick with a 35w kit if possible, only because I'm not sure how the stock housing would hold up to extra heat from a 55w kit. Plus since it's just the fogs a cheap kit isn't a big deal, neither is staying at 35w to play it safe rather than stretching for a 55w kit.

I plan on ordering a nice set of HID's for my fogs soon as well... probably just going to go with a Kensun kit (got that for my brother's 2010 Mazda 3's headlights (H11) and they look great in 5000k!)

The TRS kit will have everything you need. As far as I know it is still not advised to use the auto function but if you call TRS they can confirm that.

As for the fog lights. You can either go with a PnP conversion like you have shown in your post or you can retrofit a pair of fog projectors. That retro will not be as easy as the MH1 and I believe the 3rd gen has permasealed fog housings.

Thanks.. I've decided to dig out the extra cash and went with the Morimoto fog lights as well. Everything from the retro fit source arrived yesterday, I'm still waiting on my aftermarket headlamps that I ordered off of Ebay to arrive.. In the meantime I've been working on mounting the LED angel eyes onto the shrouds.

I sanded down the top of the shrouds so I would have a flat surface and attached the angel eyes with some JB weld. I still need to paint/touch up some of the sanded spots around the eyes with some chrome paint.

Here's the progress so far.. Ill update this thread with some pics as I finish up this retro project.

I would've ran the wire through the shroud first to hide it. Then attached the ring to the shroud.

Oh I did I left the wires out so I could paint the areas of wire chrome that are going to run through the openings that circle around the shroud. My headlamps should be arriving Monday so I'll have more pics of the finished look. Hopefully on Wednesday, if the weather warms up a little, I'll begin the installation of everything on the car.

Small loop of wire running through the shroud and out the back.. it will be on the bottom, so once mounted into the headlamp, it shouldn't be too noticeable.
