Biomedical Equipment Engineer and also a nasty reservist
Where did you do your training, or are you in school for it now at the U? Not sure if I asked you that already. I'm at the DoD BMET school right now with a bunch of Navy guys in my class.
Edit: ^ N/M that's a guy named Jake who I asked about that who's in Biomed. Engineer school now.

I was trained in the Marine Corps actually for electrical engineering. When I got out of active duty I posted up my resume and the company I work for now hired me up and trained me on what I need to do.

I am a senior in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota with an emphasis in Tissue Mechanics and Biomaterials. I am working for the summer for the University of Michigan in a lab and I hope to go to grad school here.
I think my Altima has a weakish synchro on 2nd. Those of you with the 3.5 5-speed, is it smooth as butter to put it into gear or do you have to at least work a little? I find one-finger shifting just isn't going to cut it anymore (32k miles)
Mine is still pretty smooth going into 2nd gear. Possible with one finger pressure if the rpms are in the general area. I do however have a funny squeeky clunky noise that is coming from my transmission if there is a bunch of slop in between shifts. Like going from one to two it makes a noise when it engages. I think it's something with the clutch but I'm not too worried about, if I drive well it doesn't make the sound.

I had my friend who is an ASE Certified mechanic with Toyota drive it and he thought that there is definitely something wrong either in the synchros or the linkages for 2nd and 3rd. I still have a powertrain warranty, so its going in. I just hope the guy who had it before didn't beat the piss out of it so it would count as abuse. Nissan customer care doesn't always want to play ball.
Good luck. I actually drove around yesterday and i can easily put it into any gear without any effort, especially one-two. It just falls right in. Too bad it burns more oil than I'd like.

How much oil are we talking about? A new Toyota can burn a quart every 3k miles of normal driving. My old Sentra, however, didn't burn a drop.
I haven't exactly narrowed it down yet, but at least 1 quart every 3k, I think more. My Maxima didn't burn any either through 160k so kinda disappointed in the VQ35, but it seems to be very common, perhaps just different levels of tolerances with the rings in different engines. I had a bad pre-cat replaced under warranty at 55k so that may have done a little bit of damage to the rings, maybe not.
Who's down for Wednesday? We should all show and line up. It was cool how people would stop by and check out the cars when we all had our hoods up. If we all show, it'll give Tony a reason to wash his engine!
Then we can hit Chipotle and talk about what Carlson's missing...
