So for a while now my cars horn doesn't honk when I push the lock button on the keyfob. I have tried the unlock/lock for more than two seconds and get the indication blink from my car but the horn still doesn't sound when locked. I have also noticed that the panic button will not sound the horn either just blink the lights. I can still honk the horn with the steering wheel for what its worth.

anybody else have this problem/know how to solve it?

I think by "silent mode" Magoo means holding down the lock and unlock together until the lights blink, which you said you've done. I keep mine in this mode and the panic button still sets off the horn.

Probably what BT said.

I put mine on silent mode because of the train horns but it still works in panic mode. Loud as hell, but it works.

My Altima was beeping and chiming like clockwork until the dealer tech recently disabled the battery when installing new spark plugs. And now there is no chime or any audible warning of a door open or a trunk lid open, etc. He obviously did not reattach something he disabled. The door used to chime when opened whether or not the acc or engine was on. Now the mystery will have to continue and more time spent/lost at the dealership as they try to tap dance
around this one.
