I was just wondering if any one knows anything about performance chips. I heard they would be a cheaper add-on and instant horse power. Do chips actually recalibrate the way the car runs? Can any one explain how a chip works and what it would cost to add on? If so, would a chip be a better start than a CAI.

Thanks,
Xphys

No such thing. Your ECU is flash programmable, so there are things that can be adjusted within your computer, once a program becomes available to do it. But the whole "chip" concept is a thing of the past.

do all your mods first then get a ECU chip
you can take your car to your dealership and ask for a Timing Advance. Around 70 bucks or so.

but JET ECU makes a chip for our altimas. get intake, exhaust, headers.......... then so on. thats what i would go with

Jet makes a flash program for our cars, not a chip. Jets programming is absolutely worthless on LS1, for what it's worth. I'd be real careful......
