So i looked this up via search and found a thread from 2009. The person who started it stated that from research the 325 follows the 420. Is this true? Additionally, it was stated in the comments that the CEL can go off by adding a 1.2kohm resistor in series with the black signal wire(ecu signaler) from the downstream O2 sensor. Is this also true? The thread died before the person who had the issue confirmed if it worked. Also, is doing this safe or is it just masking the issue? Anyone know of any other ways to fix the problem(s)? Thanks in advance.

The P0420 code can be triggered from a number of things. Not a fun code to trouble shoot. It can be one or more of the following: catalytic converter, front -and/or- rear o2 sensor, exhaust leak, intake leak, spark plugs.

You need to take some troubleshooting steps to narrow down your problem triggering the P0420. Simply searching "P0420" in the 93-01 General Forum directly & reading as many threads as possible regarding the P0420 code will surely yield some answers and places to start:

The P0325 is the knock sensor. That's it. Replace the knock sensor and it will go away. It is a notorious code on these KA's. The P0325 only appears when paired with another code, the P0325 never triggers the CEL solely.
