My daughter has a 2003 Altima 4 cylinder that was throwing a MAF sensor code. Bought used one from parts dealer and when I went to install the sensor I noticed one of the five wires going to plug was loose. One of her genius former boyfriends had spliced one in. I fixed the wire and it cranked. I drove it to my house so I could put the new one I had bought on the car. I tried the "new' MAF sensor from the reputable used parts dealer and you guessed it. Didn't work. Went to take it off to put the old one on and somewhere in the "confusion" (old age) I left the key on. When taking the wiring that was spliced apart I touched some of the wires together and it arced. I pulled them apart as quick as I could and the fans came on when the wires arced together. Now to finish this fiasco of a story. Once I put the old one on it wouldn't start. So, is it possible I blew a fuse of some sort or did I fry the ECM? Any help would be appreciated.
