Hello folks ,

My son needs a new engine for his 2006 Altima . I was wondering will a 2007 or 2008 engine fit the car? Its a 2.5 engine. Any help , thanks

I was told only 20020-2006 but I saw on another site that a 2008 would work. I am trying to get a 2nd opinion.

It would be a lot cleaner if you could stay in the same 'generation' ie 02-06...you don't want to get into issues with having to use a newer ECU that doesn't play nice with the rest of the car's CANBUS connected gear, or an old harness that doesn't connect up to the various sensors and controls on the new engine. Otherwise you need to worry about mounts, exhaust geometry, differing sensors etc. Have you considered the JDM options? There have been several successful transplants documented on this forum.

I agree with above.
07 may have more sensors than the 06. May or may not be needed in your 06. But may not function correctly without them.
Would be great to know if someone has done it.
