Is anyone aware of this model Nissan losing power after/during a long drive? It has happened 3 times in 3 months. I took it to Nissan and no codes showed up. They put something on my car that would read the code if it happened again, but it still showed nothing. The mechanic at Nissan says that it is a known issue with the v6 Altima, but there’s never been a recall. Does this sound right?

By power do you mean horsepower? If so your car might be entering into fluid temperature protection logic mode (“fail-safe mode”) if the CVT fluid temperature rises above a certain threshold. If the CVT goes into fail-safe mode, engine performance is reduced. Customers may report this condition as “low power” or “reduced engine performance”.

There is a way for you to monitor CVT fluid temperature with Android or iOS. The program is CVTz50 (Google Play Store or the Apple app store) and it connects to your car's OBDII port via a Bluetooth or wifi ELM327 interface.
