just wanted to provide some feedback on a emissions problem on my altima.

car has 135kmi,failed the NOX portion on the TX emissions test.the gas cap also failed the test

searching on this forum i saw posts that pointed out the EGR system as a potential problem

sure enough the vacuum hose going to the BPT from the throttle body(?) had rotted, turned rubber into sponge.

replace this hose at autozone.
removed and cleaned the EGR valve just to be on the safe side.car's been babied so there wasnt much carbon.cleaned the throttle body(which was overdue anyway)

re-did the emissions which was free at jiffy lube.car passed

still running the stock cat. converter.

cheers

I just failed the NOx in Dallas today, seems like i need to look at my EGR valve. How high were your levels mine were (standard/actual) 910/1263 at high speed and 1006/2619 at the low emission speed. What should i be looking for in cleaning the EGR valve?
