Restaurants ban 'Big Eater'

Restaurants in a southern Indian state are banning a man with a giant appetite from taking advantage of their 'all-you-can-eat' offers.

One chain has put up posters of P K Rappai, headlined "Beware of Rappai", in its branches in Kerala.

The 18.5 stone man is known as Theetta, or 'Big Eater', and appears at eating competitions across the state, where he commands £130 appearance fees.

He eats 70 rice cakes and drinks two litres of tea for breakfast at 7am and has two lunches during which he eats enough rice and spiced lentils for 20 people.

For dinner the 60-year-old from Thrissur eats huge quantities of fried semolina and up to 40 parathas, fried unleavened bread.

The Daily Telegraph reports Mr Rappai became infamous with chefs after an all-you-can-eat restaurant allegedly short-changed some college students. They retaliated by buying him a ticket to eat at the restaurant.

He ate through four huge bowls of rice and spice lentils and almost cleared out the kitchen before demanding more. An argument with staff started and punches were thrown and the police called.

But officers ruled in his favour and the chef was ordered to start cooking afresh until Mr Rappai was full.

reminds me of....
Homer: All you can eat. Ha!
Hutz: Mr. Simpson, this is the most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since my suit against the film, "The Never-Ending Story'' :D
