Hi good people of the forums,

I recently replaced a head gasket on my 03' altima. Now that everything is back together, running at idle a cyclic series of 4 knocks of light-to-moderate volume can be heard coming from inside the upper portion of the timing chain cover.

So my best guess is that the chain tensioner plunger isn't taking up all the slack in the chain due to low oil pressure? The car is still up on stands so maybe once the engine is under load this will go away? Thoughts?

The only other moving parts inside the timing cover would be the sprockets (I don't see what could go wrong there), the timing chain, and those little arms with plastic covers that the chain rides on. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help folks. Have a wonderful week.
