My 98 Altima is idling at 950-1000 rpms? And I feel that the response when pressing the gas is not as before - it is harder to accelerate. I remember that the idle speed has always been 550-650 rpm before. Anyone know what the problem could be? The manuals and a plate on the car say that the idle speed can't be regulated. Any suggestions?

ajust the idle speed screw

Hi, I have a altima 1998 too. My engine used to idle around 1000rpm

following suggestions from a the members here, I checked the following:

1- make sure the engine has reached operating temperature first. A cold engine always runs fast

2- made sure the throttle cables and cruise control cable are not too tight
3- finally, I adjusted the idle speed control screw. It is not obvious to see it, it is located between the first and second intake pipes (looking from the left, standing in front of the car)
