how badly does it affect your body afterwards? ive been told it wrecks your body totally so you are weakened for a month or so, although this is far off, im considering in running a chicago marathon or an ironman triathalon after i graduate hs, if you ask why i wanna do it, its mainly just a self accomplishment thing

well, 26 miles is a long run even for long distance runners, farthest i ran is i think 10, and i was in a slow pace, im trying to do the run in an 8 minute mile pace entire way through

I get tired just watching a marathon.

Yes, it can be about 2 weeks to a month to fully recover just from the soreness and your body does take a beating. It might be that length of time for someone who doens't run marathons regularly. I ran the Austin Motorola Marathon in Feb of 2003 . Look for training schedules different places, see what works best for you. You need a few months prior to the marathon to train properly. check out www.runtex.com a local Austin run shop. Several different training schedules. Best of luck.
