i finally got worried enough about my tranny shifting exceptionally hard from 1st to 2nd. so i gave my car to my mechanic and told him to check the entire car, every nut and bolt, bumper to bumper. he came back with relativly good news, my car is in perfect shape with the exception of some blown motor mounts, which i had replaced with nice new polyurethane ones. but he also said the hard shifting was due to a spring in the valve body of my transmision. he said the spring i had was significantly softer than the one that was supposed to be there, hence the hard shifting. he told me that i didnt need to replace it cause it wasnt causing any damage, but he also has no clue why its there. could this mean that the last owner had the valve body re-tuned for quick shifting?
