Hey, i was wondering the best place to get a 12V source that turns on only when the car is turned on. Im thinking of hard wireing my radar detector.

So far all i know of is
1) Amp wire off head unit - but i dont know if thats as good source because I dont know if drawing power off my radio will affect the sound any

2) Cigarette lighter

know of anymore? anyone else do this? Thanks

I have my radar detector hard wired to the cig lighter. Works like a charm.

yeah dude, i think the cig lighter is the best place to hardwire it. its easy and thats the place itd be hooked to if it werent hardwired. prolly a bad idea to wire it through the remote wire.

i wired mine to the fuse box running off electronic parts.... or you could hit the radio

You're talking about the fuse box at teh driver's left leg right?

Where did you attach the wire? Is there a 12V screw somewhere on the fuse box?



also, for the cigarette lighter, did you just splice into the wire and run the power off of it, or did you just cut the wires making the cigarette lighter useless.
