Brake light/traction control light

I have a 2012 altima and just the last few days, when I start the car, the parking brake light stays on (parking brake is not engaged) and the light with the car and skid marks stays on. I can still turn traction control on and off but that light just stays on. Any ideas?

Brake light only comes on when accelerating and turns off when I get up to speed
Have you checked your brake fluid levels? I would start there...

Chris
I will do that, and I've heard maybe the brake pads as well? Will check everything when I have time and let you know if it fixes it
So this is a delayed response but I just barely got around to doing the brake work on my car, fluid was a little low and I put new ceramic brakes on just because, the old ones were about half way done. No more light or warnings since then. Also, checked for leaks while doing the brakes and found nothing. Thanks for the help
I'm having the same issue with both lights. Did you ever figure out the traction control light?

While you bumped a almost year old plus thread, did you check your brake fluid? The brake warning, trac, stability light all come on when the brake fluid is low

Almost 2 years later, I have no idea what I did to fix it, but it worked, because that issue is gone and I apparently never returned to this thread. Now my wife's 2005 has me pulling my hair out.
Unrepeatable fixes are pretty much worthless....................you gotta know what fixed it to pass it along.

Your light was on because your fluid was low. Pads were worn and this requires the pistons to move our farther and that requires fluid to take that space. Once you put new pads in the pistons were pushed in, the fluid was raised and the light went off.

Brakes are an area where "oh well" should not be acceptable. Failure can end badly for you and others.
Mine stays on sometimes. It goes on for an hour or two. When I cycle the car a few times it turns off. I just had the car “checked” for the 15k service two weeks ago. I think this includes brakes and fluids. It’s a 2017 Sentra Nismo. If it comes on again, I am holding the traction control light. After that I will go to the dealer.
bumping because F people who get bent out of shape for commenting on old threads
