Hey Guys,

I have read a lot on the forums regarding the BD in our cars and I am almost about to get the tuner. Just have some concers about the CVT.

I have an 2011 Altima Coupe 2.5 w/ CVT. Performance mods so far just a K&N I installed 2 months ago. happy with the K&N, sincerelly didn't notice a really performance increase, even the low rpms seems to be slower than before with a little cvt lag increase on lows ( Always drive with the Manual mode ). When the rmp start to ho high, then it seems to be a little more aggresive than before.

For the ones having the 2.5 CVT, do you know what I am talking about with this lag ? Also, did you experience the same when installed your intake the first time ? Do you think the Bully Dog will help with the acceleration a little bit, to get rid of this lag feeling ? I just have the feeling that the CVT doesn't get the real power of our car, and drops a lot.

As I see, it seems the good settings for the 2.5 CVT are:

- Preformace tune (91 octane)
- +2 Timing
- Speed Limiter set at 160mph
- Raised max rpm to 6400rpm
- Set throttle response/ sensitivity to high

But, really with the CVT the speed and rmp limiter will work ? Looks like the TCU will not let this change to take effect.

Future mods:

-Nismo catback
-Bully Dog GT gas tuner ??

Current mods:

-Eibach pro-kit
-Sport edition 18"
-K&N Typoon

Thanks a lot in advance guys!! I really apreciate your help and experience on this.

Im pulling the plug on the gt tuner soon as well. Let us know how things feel. Damn, i wish someone could dyno your car before and after so we would know if the bullydog really adds legitimate hp or not.

Blueis,

As I have read, you are right, and sincerely, that is what I am expecting, not to get around 20 hp, I don't think thats realistic, at least, with single mods like I have, intake and nismo exhaust shortly. But...It seems changing the timimg to +2 and Set throttle response/ sensitivity to high makes the difference to feel the car more responsive and avoid this lag feeling from the CVT. Also, don'thing getting rid of the speed, rpm limiter take effect in our CVT, due the TCU.

Regards.

The throttle sensitivity option is not avail on my 2.5 cvt. the speed limiter option will let you set it but u will still get fuel cut at about 125mph. for me just having the 2* adv helps on the response. as far as hp not sure. I do know i gain about 1.5 to 2.5 mpg hiway. i did not buy my bd for the altima but for the titan and i used on the xterra as well. the bd is good to have if you change out vehicles like i do because it will work on a good variety of makes and models. as for the cvt you will only get so far with the performance which imo is good for mpg but not for performance. i am satisfied at present with mine it does well for what it is but i will soon go with the g35 or 37.

yes it is. you have to go to the DRIVING COACH menu. its under accelerator sensitivity

I only have the k&n drop in. The only plans I have are the intake and possible the exhaust. I'm really thinking of just going with a g35 or g37 and put my efforts in that. Can't get too much out of the 2.5. I Also check the throttle sense feature and the one in the drive coach is for reading your inputs on throttle it did not change the actually sensitivity like the option when used on the Titan where you have I think 3 settings being normal, performance, and extreme. Thrun actually change the throttle sensitivity when u press the pedal. And on extreme It was very sensitive in the Titan like easy to lurch just barely touching the pedal. So I had it set to performance.

I have a 2008 2.5 with a takeda Sri and I got the bd so let me tell you the difference for our cars alright. First of all you can move the speed limiter from 110mph I moved it to 160 as it says on the dash. the most I've gotten it up to was 125mph it took a while for me to hit it though. I have mine at +2 it was originally at -1 or -2. The throttle response I have noticed the same as you with it being laggy in low rpms but more aggressive in higher. That's all I've messed with for now I was afraid to change the throttle settings but I might now since ou all did just to see the difference.

I have to get familiar with the fuse pannel in our cars, just took a fast look the other day, but have no idea how to do it :/ The use of a fuse, seems to be if you want the tuner to power on and off when you turn on and off the car right ? Looks like if I want just to turn it on or off manually, it will be enough having the tuner connected to the obd2. Not sure if I am right with this or not.
