overall im suprised

anyone in socal want it just let me know since i got it i just let u guys use it too

its basicly like a chip but you program it and can remove it whenever you want you can change throlle rev limiter governer and more its pretty cool

#4 ·
so, is it 'basically like a chip' or is it a programable unit/"chip" that you plug into the OBD port?

and please go back and reread your last post and decipher it for me. spelling and grammar>you

#5 ·
Yeah, is there a link or something you can post so we can read all the info. about it. It kinda sounds like a uni-chip or something.

so what's your 0-60 right now?

These are very popular with the Titan crowd. Most people do a 2* timing advance on the titans and remove the WOT restriction. If there are similar things with the altima it can make a diff. WOT restriction and 2* timing really wakes up the 5.6. Its not a "CHIP". Its a programmer. It reprograms the factory ECU.

#14 ·
im surprised this actually works with the altima. and yea whats your 0-60 time?

I also have a modded Titan with a uprev tune and it did wonders but not available for the Altima. It gave me a 7 tenths gain to sixty but some of that was getting rid of the throttle restiction which the Altima dose not have.A lot of guys on club Titan are running the bully dog and posting gains but I am wondering what it will do for the 3.5.I am still trying to do some gtechs to see if I got any gains from my jet MAF.I got like 2.5 tenths to sixty per my gtech with the MAF on my Titan.I went from 6.4 as my best to 6.16.Once I get some good runs with the MAF I might try this.

Just so we are clear, this tool does not give you control over the ECU software, nor does it actually completely reflashes your ECU. It does what it's known as a "realtime" reflash, it will not do a base reflash. A base reflash completely rewrites your ECU and usually takes 15-20 minutes to load up. A reflash takes 20-30 seconds and only reprograms the learned parameters. You know, those parameters that you reset by disconnecting the battery. Afaik only Cobb tuning has cracked the Nissan ECU and allows a base reflash, alas they only have it for the Z, GT-R and Infiniti G. This tool is akin to the Diablosport programmer that's used by truck guys, my old man included.

I used to think Ormand was an ass too, but then I started understanding where his tone was coming from. And I don't blame him one bit. It's because of the acute lack of common sense these boards seem to be suffering from these days. For example what is with all the whines about "give us more info". Have we suddenly lost the ability to use Google?

I completely agree, it frustrates me too, but if you read my post again, and look at his post, I was referring to me being an ass. Not so much of an ass, but more of a smartass. This bullydog thing amuses me....I pay $400 and I have the ability to plug in 20hp at will, just seems kinda fishy to me. Sort of like the blitx throttle controller in the other thread, it's a complete waste of money, but yet some of the people are jumping all over it and thinking it is the best thing since sliced bread....:banghead:

Just got off the phone with Bully dog and she states 22 horse but you need to get the update. Also as I stated earlier Guys on club Titan are showing gains at the track with this unit. But 2wd Titans have a throttle restriction that this unit gets rid of.The person at BD did say it changes timeing and adds fuel.

#24 ·
m_turner_02, if this is anything like the Diablosport tuner which is right around $400 as well, I can assure you the gains are not imaginary. My dad's workhorse is a Cummins turbodiesel Ram 3500 and the additional torque gained from his Diablosport reflash is nothing short of impressive. The truck pulls hard and pulls hard sooner (more boost at lower rpms).

Having said all that though, when a company comes up with such a product, hopefully they have done R&D on the tunes beforehand. Amongst other things, they should have dyno runs. I see no reason why these would not be released, unless the gains were not noteworthy ...

#25 ·
Yea, I too have witnessed the chips that the turbo diesels tons of power, but we are talking about on a n/a 3.5L engine. And looking at the site, I see no explanation about where this power comes from, which is I am guessing that they add fuel and adjust timing. Kind of a rip imo, when technosquare reflash is 500 and has proven results. And I am guessing that 20 hp on the alti is a little far-fetched

#26 ·
I think I know the difference between tuning a NA vs a turbo better than most around here ;) While I realize my comparison was apples to oranges, what I was saying was to not dismiss the tool right off the bat. I am skeptical myself in the sense that I like my hard data to accompany marketing claims. Bully Dog offers a 30-day money back guarantee, one could simply purchase it, test it and upon disappointment simply return it.
A Technosquare reflash is admittedly better, however, this tool is cheaper and provides some monitoring capabilities as well. THE best way to go about it would be a pro-tune but not everyone has the inclination to do so.

#27 ·
The only thing that bothers me is that they don't provide any data to show gains, or an explanation as to what this chip does...and with a pricetag of 450, I think I would be inclined to just fork over the extra 50 and get the ts flash. Hopefully someone will see results and the altimas will have another option to make some power

It doesn't just reflash the learned parameters. It uses the same protocol that the Dealers Consult III does to allow it to change some operating parameters including fuel maps and Timing. Most people just do a 2* timing advance. The bully dog can be reused over and over again on different vehicles to do this. what this does is lean out the fuel to give you more power. Vehicles from the factory are generally configured to run pretty rich. this is because too lean a fuel mixture causes detonation and will damage the engine. but they tend to be so over conservative that you can lean out the fuel and get some reasonable gains without compromising the reliability of the vehicle. additionally if you run premium you can go even leaner safely because higher octane fuel helps to prevent detonation. the bully dog also allows you to flash premium fuel tunes. I imagine with the 3.5 the gains can probably be quite good and decent for the 2.5. like i said above the titan really wakes up with these things. its like a whole new truck. as far as comparing to a diesel its so different. on a diesel you have turbo and the programmers allow you to increase the boost and greatly increase the performance. Other turbo gas vehicles are the same. the 1.8t VWs see significant gains because the "CHIP"s simply increase the boost.

Sethman, interesting info, appreciate it. I guess I was a bit misleading about my statement. I was just trying to say this is not a complete ECU reflash/base reflash.
I'm sure you know that "just bumping the boost" involves a lot more than just tuning target boost. There are a lot of other parameters that need to be tuned as well.

#31 ·
Well that depends on the car. Most modern cars. even boosted ones are close loop except under WOT and similarly conservatively tuned to allow more boost safely without adjusting fuel or timing. My MR2 Turbo went to 16psi from 9psi with nothing more than a manual boost controller. But, more mods would eventually require tuning. but given everything else is stock most turbo cars can just have a little boost added.

I don't think you can use the programmer on multiple vehicles. I've heard that in order to program another car you have to restore the car you programmed first to the stock setting. So basically you can't whore out the programmer to all your buddies.

I found one online for $375 Bully Dog Power Pup

These things do work, especially on diesels.

#33 ·
For the titan you can use its on multiple trucks to do the 2* timing advance. Its a very common practice. for all other uses for the device you have to have own one. but like i said with the titan the 2* timing advance really wakes the truck up.

The transmission has it's own separate programmable control unit called a TCU (transmission control unit) or TCM (transmission control module). It would not affect it in any way. If you do go to the dealer you can always unload the flash and be on your merry way :)

hmm hadn't heard abt this, thanks for the info guys.

hey all if you have any questions, just let me know. there is only so much im aloud to talk about. if you would like to talk personally call 1866 285 5936 ext.1146 names hadley. thanks
if you want to sell a product, and market it to a large group of people, I think you should post some information. you come on here with a phone number, make no mention as to how or why this thing can instantly up the power on an altima, and last time I checked out the website, there was no mention about how this thing works, other than 'magically' increase hp. Seems kind of shady to me. why is there no mention in writing about how your product achieves its claim? Am I supposed to just shell out $400 based on the word of a salesman?

on a side note guys: I am selling a programmer that will work on all altimas. It's awesome! Just plug it in, press a button and you will automatically get 50hp to the wheels. Just give me a call and I will tell you all about it(for liability purposes I don't want to put anything in writing), then just mail me a check for $400 and I will send you your gift:)
