Hi,
I have a 96 Altima, with MT. The car is a "federal" model, but I now live in California. The car doesn't pass emissions, and the rear catalytic converter is suspect.
I'd like to go with a bolt-on replacement part. It turns out that Eastern produces two cats that could work. One is described as an OEM replacement; the other is described as a "high-flow" part, with ominous warnings about legal use in California.
There appears to be a real difference in the honeycomb density. The OEM part has 400 cells/in. while the "high-flow" part has 200 cells/in.
Here's the question - has anyone tried the high-flow catalytic converters and passed California emissions testing? I'd be interested in hearing from you.
Thanks,
Rob
