umm.. well when ur sitting still just reving it u cant tell, but out on the road u can tell especially on a 2.5 like mine. cuz b4 when i had that piece of plastic on i noticed cruisin at about 60mph and then punchin it to 70 or 80 it wouldnt juss take off it would take a second to go. But now with it off man...you can deffinately tell a difference. Its also alot louder when u accelerate out on the road, im sure you'll like the sound.

Just removed the resonator about an hour ago. Sounds even bigger now. I'm just worried that since nothing is covering the entire bottom of the car, what would happen in big puddles of water?

I just removed mine last week (same day I bought it LOL)

Anyway, after looking where the resonator goes, unless you are driving with the complete front of the car submerged, I wouldn't even worry about it.

It's so high up in the engine bay, i wouldn't even think twice about water getting up in there.

The SRI sitting on my Corvette is even more open the the road (just a filter crammed on the MAF straight off the TB) and I have never had ANY issues, even in super heavy rain. It takes a LOT to get water up to the top of the engine bay.

Just don't go driving through any ponds or rivers though LOL.

-----------

regarding the OP, I did notice a slight change in torque/power in the upper RPMs. The noise is great too. Much more aggressive. I had a K&N sitting in the garage that happened to be the correct size, so I put that in there too.

I personally bought the Injen CAI for my SE-R and after a week the rubber mount ripped off on the cold air section...so I just converted that into a WAI...so much louder....and actually suffered no loss in performance...if anything...it helped the low end a slight bit more

The HP you'd gain from the slightly cooler air down low to the warmer air up top is so minuscule that you'd hardly notice the HP gains, and really feel no SOTP difference. About the only change you will notice is the one you mentioned due to shortening the intake path.

I prefer the SRI's myself.

This was reviewed in great detail a while ago.

I did this to my car before I got my berk V2. You will not notice any performance gains. Anything that you do feel is just in your head. Hell, you'll hardly feel anything with the berk, except that you lose some torque for mid ranged power.

As for the free wai, all it does is makes your engine sound a little meaner.

I took off my resonator and duct taped the hole shut (yeah its ghetto but it works). Tape it good. This is more for reducing the air turbulence in the box, rather than keeping water out.

btw, just turn your wheel on the way to the left before you jack the car up. there is no need to take the wheel off.

I'm actually doing this now until I can get money for the berk v2 lol. Now what is the point of taping the hole shut below the air filter and just leaving that one hole? I tried driving it with both holes and i hope that covering that one hole gets rid of that resonance sound im getting. I need to go buy some of that gorilla tape because nothing I have here really works.

alright so an hour after i read this post i said what the hell and tried this cheap WAI mod. which literally took me 5 minutes and i gotta say the sound of it is pretty bad ass like i really installed a berkv2 the WAI that im waiting on.

so ill leave it like this till i get the real thing. like you guys said you dont hear it at an idle or in 1st and 2nd gear too much but the engine def. sounds meaner at a low rpm and in 3rd 4th 5th gears. and it didnt cost me a penny. not bad.

i only took a ride on the backroads for 2 minutes. i cant tell if i gained any HP but the sound alone creates a feeling like it added a lil something.:shift:

Yeah im savin up for a week or 2 to get a little extra cash for a berk v2 but tried this...still gotta tape the bottom hole tho cause i dont like the sound i get when i step on it halfway...but has anyone else noticed the mpg increase? or is this just something weird with my car...cause thats a huge jump for something that took 2 min to do.

EDIT: I finally got around to taping up the bottom hole and the resonating sound did go away.

I actually did this myself right when I got the car. I didn't know everyone else did this too. haha

I recently put the air scoop back in after driving with it out for the past few months. The car looses its nice deep sound when flooring it and it does seem a little less responsive. Who knows, maybe its all just in my head.

I put the air scoop back in for the dealer to check out another problem I had with my car. I was afraid of them seeing the air scoop taken out then have them charge me for a new one and/or claim that the problem was caused from taking the air scoop out. :/

I did this last weekend and it sounds pretty bad ass at 3000 rpm... does the berk v2 intake sound better or about the same?
