I have a 2009 Altima 2.5 S. This afternoon, when I tried starting my car, it made a strange clicking sound that I've never heard before. I noticed that if I held it for a few seconds, the car's AC, radio, and dashboard lights would come on. However, the engine doesn't start - it doesn't even sputter or anything like that.
When the dash lights come on, both the battery and check engine lights are on. Also, when the key fob is inserted, the light graphic is visible (indicating to hold the brake pedal and then push the ignition button).
This past weekend, a warning came up about low engine oil. I was going to take it over to Jiffy Lube to get everything filled back up today (I haven't driven it any since the weekend - I drive very rarely as it is).
The car only has a little over 40,000 miles on it so it isn't like I'm killing the thing. However, no serious work/replacements have ever be done on it - just periodic oil changes at Jiffy Lube.
I'd appreciate any and all help in trying to figure out what the problem is. I know next to nothing about cars, especially troubleshooting/maintenance. Unfortunately, it's currently parked at the top level of an access controlled parking garage attached to my apartment complex, so getting it towed to the dealership or a mechanic would be...problematic.
If more information is needed, let me know and I'll provide it. Thanks!
