clunking sound coming from the rear

Bumping this thread instead of starting a new one.

Just had KYB's, Racingline springs, and new mounts and boots installed last Friday. I have noticed a light but loud clunking noise coming from the rears, although it seems to be mostly from the driver's side. It almost sounds as though something is loose. It only makes this sound over larger bumps, like speed bumps, regardless of speed.

I do not have any means to check it out myself so I brought it back yesterday (Thursday) and they checked it out and re-torqued everything, so they said. But the sound is still there. This is a place that came highly recommended on some local forums.

The guy said if it didn't go away to bring it in next week and they'll shave the bump stops (or something like that--shave something down).

From what I have read on here it could be a number of things such as the RSB bushings, springs not seated correctly, or something to do with the rear sub-frame. This noise definitely was not there prior to the new suspension.

The wife just had the idea of videoing me going over a speed bump but I won't be able to do that until next week.

Other than that, I wish I had done the suspension a long time ago. Feels tight. Another excellent product by Racingline (will post pictures next week as well).

As promised, here is a video of the sound (some instances are louder):

YouTube - ‪Altima Suspension Noise‬‎

At first it seemed to be happening only over speed bumps and larger dips in the road. But in the very first instance (~3 sec), I was turning and began going down the 7-11 entrance, which is rather steep. I noticed it was doing this on a trip my wife and I took over the long weekend we just had up here. The extra weight--luggage and wife--seemed to make it that much worse. Sure handled well enough through the mountains. :shift:

The sound is actually quite loud outside the car and sometimes has a creaking sound associated with it. I thought I heard it on the passenger side as well but it may not have been coming from there.

Like I stated above, the shop that did the install wants to shave the bump stops. I do not know enough about suspensions to know what those are or if they could be causing that noise.

Any ideas? Did I get a bad shock (from Tire Rack)? Thanks in advance.

Took a couple of pictures of the rear mounts. It is important to note that my parking space is on a slope, with the driver's side lower than the passenger's side.

Driver's side (the noisy one--notice the kink in das boot):

Passenger's side:

Not sure if that is normal for a car parked on a slope.

Thanks for the reply CodeManVQ.

I am still looking for other opinions and I need to get this fixed ASAP. There is nothing I can do to check it out, if it involves jacking up the car, hence the reason I took it to a shop.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Mount LOOKS fine though. No idea why the boot is kinked like that. I will say that I wouldn't put my faith in a shop that attributes the sound in that video to bump stops.
They weren't able to replicate the sound. I went with the guy to get it to do it and it would clunk but it never would do that sound, or at least it was difficult to hear that over traffic.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I am just going to have to show them the video and pics and see what they think. I've been hesitating since it seems kind of like the annoying customer thing to do but I want the actual problem fixed, and fixed soon.
