I have been trying to uncover the differences between the three CAIs made for the 02/03 3.5 Altima. Much of the following info came from various places on this forum and the manufacturer sites. I will edit these posts as I get more info.

Info on CAIs for 2002-3 Altima 3.5 SE (Stick & Auto)

Note: Injen differentiates their WAI from their CAI by the name "Race Division" So, an Injen WAI is named just "air intake". The Injen CAI is named the "Race Division Air Intake".
Many sites list the Injen CAI as "auto" or "auto only". This is WRONG! I have called Injen & the same R1979 kit fits auto and stick.

General Discussion
Currently only AEM makes a bypass valve for CAIs. It will supposedly work on any of the CAIs, but you must buy the valve for the correct intake pipe diameter. You WILL have to cut a section out of the intake pipe (hacksaw job) to insert the bypass on ALL inakes.

Injen says that they are going to come out with a BPV that won't require cutting. I won't hold my breath.

I need more info on the Place racing CAI to fill out the chart. Need some Dyno charts! Is the tubing size correct?

One of the most nebulous issues on all of the CAIs is the placement of the filter. I THINK that all of the CAI filters go down in the Altima fenderwell behind the front bumper. Can anyone shed light on this? Do all of the CAIs put the filter in the same place, or are they different?

As a general rule, CAIs seem less noisy in the car than WAIs. I suspect that this is because the noise is made at the filter end of the intake, and the CAI filter is farther away from the passenger compartment than the WAI filter.

Pricing. As a general rule, you shouldn't pay more than $230 for any CAI before shipping. Injen seems the most expensive ($218-$230) then AEM ($188 - $210), and the Place Racing ($185-$200) both fairly close.

Well, my car was the prototype for making the Injen CAI for the 5-spd. and so far (since May) it has been working great. I pushed the car pretty hard and at 5000+ RPM it gives a great sound. I raced my friend in his 97 Supercharged Maxima to 130+ MPH and our cars are very smooth going up to that speed. My buddy's supercharged Maxima is still too fast though...argh!!

I just installed the AEM in my 3.5 last nite.
Took about 2 hours doing it myself (I take my time)
The fit and finish are great and the sound at 6k is incredible !!!
I can feel a MAJOR increase between 5k and 6k and it feels
more responsive throughout the rpm range. It's very quiet when just cruising around town and freeway.
