I am planning on changing the coolant on my Nissan Altima. It has a 2004, 3.5 L engine. The manual says Nissan Brand Coolant or equivalent. Can someone please tell me a brand and type that is equivalent?

Also, when is the valve to bleed the air out of the system during the coolant change?

Thanks in advance.

just get the green one, it is the equivalent. no need to pay for nissan branded.
any brand will do, here i mostly see prestone or home brands.

If it looks bad you should fill with distilled water and get the car to heat with heater on, this will allow the heater core and engine coolant to flow and get flushed too.
I recommend you use concentrate with distilled water. avoid tap water. and mix accordingly to your temperature rating.
last thing, dont forget to bleed it, Lisle makes a wonderful special bleeding funnel that makes the job fun and effortless, there is no valve that i know of.
Easy job, take your time and enjoy a cold beer on a hot day :p
