I'm sure it's not complicated but i'd rather ask before doing it.
What's the trick? :)

Reason for asking - i wanna swap mine with "metallic" looking one that SLs with leather seats got. It's the same size and fitment, right?

I don't think that you can just pull it out..you probably will have to remove the center console to get the cubby hole, since the shift stick will get in the way..

I installed dynamat on my altima floor last weekend and the cubby hole came out by itself when I removed the center console..

I wanna see pics.. is there really that big of a difference between the SL ones and S's

^^^ same form and shape, totally different color. Might look out of place if i was to swap just the cubby hole cover but i'm also thinking of swapping out door thingies (no idea what they are called) where all control buttons are at (windows, mirrors, lock/unlock) SLs with leather have them in "metallic" color as well which looks pretty nice with steering wheel and shift knob plate's metallic/silver color. (and metallic cobby hole cover)

Those pictures don't really do it justice. Here's what I found:

^ Non-Leather door

^ Leather door

You can see how the one with leather matches the shift gate color.

hehe, at least you got that room...i have the tech package, so I have the cd changer, which is almost like another 1.5 din mount....also metallic look.

^^^ Thanx for the link.

Well, to all those that said cover can not be removed from the lid itself (dealer, nissanparts...)- yes it can be done. U'll need a lot of flathead screwdrivers thou lol.

Here's both covers taken off the lid(s):

I've changed all 4 door switch bezels (armrest u see here isn't lined up proper thou, already fixed)

And here's some pics (with and without flash)

Pictures don't do it justice. Little things like that really change the car's interior, looks way better in person then on pics and beats the shit out of any stickers u'll find on ebay.
Now i gatta find good oem leather everything to complete my 3.5 conversion (engine doesn't count :p )

Where did you end up finding the parts? What was the cost?

Where did you end up finding the parts? What was the cost? - U can get them at the dealer or on nissanparts but what they charge for them is way too much, not worth it. I got these things at the junk yard, came out to 50$ all together.

Did you also change the shift knob? - yeah, a while ago thou. I also got leather center console armrest now :)

maybe stealing your idea Vital but only for the cubby hole and not the door switches. I like those black. - I might look out of place with only the cubby hole cover since there's nothing else that's exactly the same color/texture.

Sorry to pull up an old thread, but where did you get the cubby cover? The only way I have been able to find it is to buy the whole cubby assembly (over $100).

it looks reall good i think i wanna do it now and also im thinking about doing all oem leather to .. but the lil cup holder after the shift knob i would want to match the cubby hole to. off topic i hate the fact that the e brake is a push down i wish it was like the v6's thats how all 3rd gens came its way better if you ask me

^^^ very easy. Every door is the same -
1. yank (pull up) cloth/leather armrest on the door. This will give u space to get to switch covers.
2. pull switch covers donw a little bit and up away from the door.

Cubby hole cover requires a lot more work but is doible as well. Let me know if u need a how-to on it.

Thanks. I've had the cubby out a lot for stereo and other electronic installs (learned to pull the shift knob off, way easier to get the cubby completely out). I'll have to start scanning my junkyards for a car with metallic pieces.

My new motto: just say "no" to fake woodgrain!
