Day 2: So far! So good!

I just purchased a 2015 Murano AWD SL with Tech Package.

I started out looking at an S Trim with Navigation - It did not have leather or power seats. The dealership tried to sell me on it, but no dice.

Moved up to the SV, but the SV does not have leather. Leather seats just fair better over time and they look classy, not to mention they add value to the vehicle later down the line (trade ins, etc).

Started to look at the SL, leather seats, but not the ultimate Platinum.

Looked at a Platinum, but mistakenly thought all Platinums were pimped out to the max. Some are not. The Platinum I looked at for 40 MSRP did not have a moonroof (ala the Tech Package). I learned a valuable lesson about trims, packages, and add ons from the manufacturer (e.g. Navigation, Splash Guards, Mats, Chrome Rear Bumper Protectors).

So, in the end, I went with an SL with Tech Package (Power Panoramic Moonroof, Forward Emergency Breaking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Predictive Forward Collision Warning).

What I missed out on by not getting the Platinum Trim:
1. Power Steering Wheel (I can adjust this manually)
2. Heated Back Seats (I don't sit back there lol)
3. Automatic retractable back seats (It's not hard to put the back seats back up).
4. One or two other little things (just not enough to make me pull the trigger)

If the 2016s come out next month, well, I'll get over it!

Looks like you've had the ride for about a month now -- do you still like it? I'm actively shopping for a new car and I know it'll be a Nissan but not sure which model. Currently I have an Altima but one of my gripes is that the car sits too low; I really prefer SUVs that sit up higher because you can see better out of them. Also, random question, what are your thoughts about headlight brightness while night-driving?

Thanks!

Hey nissanaholic!

Yep, coming up on a month. Yes, I LOVE IT! It rides like a car. The Rogue is nice too, but the Rogues do not come in a V6. I really wanted a V6! The Murano drives like a car.

I test drove the 2016 Rogue. I just didn't feel a 4 cylinder is appropriate for a SUV or crossover. While it got up to speed the engine tended to labor to accelerate. I have a cousin who loves her Rogue though--no probs, but she has an earlier model. Test drive for yourself. If the Rogue came in a V6 I would have jumped on it. :)

This is my 5th Nissan in a row--so I'm a Nissanaholic too! :)

The Murano sits up high. That's what I was missing driving my Altima Coupe since 2007. Seeing much more of the road ahead and around you helps more than I ever imagined (think accident prevention, lane changes, upcoming lane closures, etc).

I had a severe problem with headlight brightness at night. I wear classes. Not sure if part of the problem was being so close to the ground in my Coupe or not. I'm not sure any car or truck will help with that. Anti-glare eye glasses might...being up high...the light is still coming at you, if that makes sense. I'll pay more attention the next tie I drive at night and see it things are better now at this height.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the Murano. I'll post pictures soon...maybe a video.

Thanks so much for the response! I'm glad to hear you're still liking the new ride a month later. Once those payments kick in, the new has a way of wearing off fast, ha! I like the sound of the Murano from what you describe -- rides smooth like a car but sits up way higher. And I wear glasses/contacts, too, which is exactly why I asked about night driving. Lemme know what you think if you can. Thanks!

I suggest you test drive the Murano, and do it at night, that way you can test your night vision higher up on the road and see if it makes any difference.

Do tell

Yes, so far, LOVE IT!

Great info. When you say Poor Build Quality...what do you mean? Could you give me a list of issues so I can look out for them? Not trying to be a PITA, but sharing what you know could be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

A couple of brand new unsold and 2 day owned muranos with a completely soaked carpet due to a poor seam seal at the fender hinge pillar. Windshield leaks etc

Thanks

Ok, haven't seen any of that, but I'll have the dealership check these things the next time I got in for service.

I appreciate the info--thanks. Hopefully, these are isolated incidents.

You would have thought Nissan had worked out the kinks by now in their CV transmissions. It has been almost 10 years since they came out. Shameeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks sad in deed.

No problems so far with my Murano, but thanks for your information. I'll be on the lookout. I have a bumper-to-bumper warranty, so hopefully, if something does pop up, I'll have it addressed free of charge.

Still LOVING it so far.

I've had to put a new transmission is 2 so far.

Both with less than 2k miles .... LOL :surprise

Just in case you guys are still around, my Murano is still going strong. Still love it after three years. I have 54,000 miles on it and I have only had to have normal maintenance on it (tires, breaks, oil, etc).

I will keep my eye out on the transmission issues. There has been three recalls on it and one in progress (I just don't know what right now).

I have LOVED this truck and still do. No regrets!!!

Five year check in. My Murano is going strong. I have not put 60,000 miles on her yet, but getting close.

No transmission issues, just the normal tires, breaks, oil, and several recalls (smh).
