Has anyone done a flex fuel conversion on their Altima? If so what kit did you use and how is it working for you? I was looking up kits and they say they make them for any vehicle. This is what i found for Nissan V6.

Im also intrested in doing this but dont know anything (worthwhile) about it. I was listening to coast to coast am the one night and they were talking about this, but the problem with these kits is there is no regulation or standard for them yet.

The way I see it, it will take our government a couple years at the least to do anything substantial about oil, if they do anything at all. Seems like these conversion kits might be the way to go for now.

What is E85 a gallon anyways?

It's 3.25 a gallon here for E85 and i just saw 4.51 for premium today. Oregon is pretty much the center of E85 in the US, so it's readily available, and the kits are flex fuel so you can run ethanol or regular.

I also wonder how it performs too, that would be sweet If you get more power or better mileage, but for the price i wouldn't mind if i had to lose a little performance.

From what I was reading on the site you linked is that you may loose a little MPG but should gain some power. E85 is basically 105 octane. Now if you could tune around that and bump up the ignition timing and lean it our a bit there would deff. be some power to be gained and if you could stay off the throttle with that tune it should increase MPG too.

Deff. intresting, on a downside I searced here and the closest place for E85 is over 60 miles away from me:sad:

Living here in Iowa, E85 is shoved down our throats. It is subsidized by the government making it slightly cheaper than regular gas. I have read quite a bit about this fuel. Performance of most cars is the same as with gas. Mileage is a different story. Most cars using E85 get 20% to 25% less miles to the gallon. 3 weeks ago when unleaded was selling for $3.49, I checked and in my town E85 was selling for $3.14. Looks good to the consumer selling for 35 cents less a gallon. But, taking the mileage difference into account, you have to buy more E85 to go the same distance you would get with unleaded. In other words, in order to be competive with unleaded, E85 should be selling for $2.85 a gallon. At this price, you can go the same distance for the same cost. So, you are paying a preimum for E85. Also, if you convert your car to use E85,will it void your warrenty?

this is very interesting. I was reading that anything in tthe 3rd gen year range requires the kit that is hard wired into the injectors. I'm pretty sure this would murder the warranty.

Someone should be a guinne pig and test the kit out. In CA the gas prices get higher by the day and I almost want to get one of those ugly POS prius's to combat the high cost.

Anyone ever follow up on this? I was discussing E85 with a buddy of mine and thought this might be something worth a second look. I had a '02 Suburban and a '08 Silverado that saw some pretty decent gains when I tuned for E85. Wondering what all would go into it on the VQ. I know the QR25 has smaller injectors and a smaller FP IIRC so an upgrade would be necessary, but I'm not sure about the fuel system in the V6. Also, with the Titans being available in Flex Fuel, could we rob some parts from them and possibly make it work? I know the VK56 is VQ-based, but just how much?

And before anyone says it, I did do some searching, but those threads seemed to spiral out of control before any worthwhile information showed up. Someone who asks about this needs to know the basics and not assume that because their local gas station sells it that they can buy it and use it with no problems. And mixing it with premium or regular or whatever is even more ridiculous. Some upgrades would be necessary, a tune would be necessary, and some common sense would be needed as well.
