EGR block off & Air temp sensor rig

I have seen these kits around and I was curious if anyone has actually done one or both. The kits consist of a plate that goes in place of your EGR valve to defeat it's operation. The other kit is a resistor that is used to jump the air intake temperature sensor to trick the computer into thinking that it is the same "cool" temperature all the time.

Is either of these worth the trouble?

i wouldnt fuc with that sh!t, it is there for a reason...on my 90 GLI , the EGR went out and caused all sorts of problems...the idle would oscilate all the time, annoying as hell and didnt run that great until i fixed it...

1.) theres probably a good reason for the engine to act diffrently when the intake temps are diffrent
2.) egr??? sry for the newbie question

If u have a low restriction exhaust setup i.e. headers, larger pipe and straight-thru muffler, ur backpressure will be too low to get the egr valve to function, which really makes no difference except when inspection time comes. Better off not bothering with it.
