I replaced the battery in my fob last week and I am still getting the low battery light on the dash. I checked the other fob and that one is good, no warning. I replaced the battery again with a brand new one and the warning is still on the dash. Anyone else had this before? I bought the batteries new, one was an AC delco brand the other was an Energizer. Is there any thing you have to reset?

Thanks,

both times ive replaced the batteries the warning was gone the next time i turned the car on. make sure you have the polarity right and that the batteries are seated properly. other than checking that the dealer would be the only other option.

Thanks for the reply

I checked the polarity and the fobs work, doors unlock, panic button works. Just every time I start the car the low fob battery light comes on. It is only with the one fob, the other doesn't give the warning.

I had the same problem as you described it. I put in a new battery and the low battery warning light was still on. So I inserted the key fob in the Intelligent Key port. I know the Intelligent Key port doesn't recharge a dead battery. The warning light disappeared after I put in the key fob in there. Maybe for some reason, it reset the warning light to go off since I have a new battery in the key fob. I never had to go to the dealer and get raped.

that low battery warning light is bunk! mine came on after a few months of driving but i've been using the same fob for almost 2 years without changing the battery, i'm going to ignore it until my fob stops working, i still have my 2nd fob and i can get into and start my car even if the fob is dead

I put the fob in the slot and the warning went off right away. Then it came on the next time I started the car.

Same here, I tested the battery after the first time I got the warning light just to see how low it was and it was still at 3v! Just like it was a fresh battery.... Now the stupid warning to change the battery has been tuning on every time i get in the car, on both my fobs for like 7-8 months now. I think my battery will last another year at this rate it’s just that stupid warning light is retarded.

I don't know why yours acted like that. But mine is okay now. It hasn't reappeared since. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Same here. Been driving for almost 2 years with the light coming on when I start the car. I have new batteries in the car, but I am not going to change them until the one in the FOB stops working. At this rate, i may be getting rid of the car before the battery ever gets changed.

This is an old thread, but did anybody ever find out why some FOB's continue to show the low battery warning even with fresh batteries?

I was getting the warning on both FOB's and changed both batteries. One FOB continued to get the warning, and the other worked fine for about 2 weeks before it started getting the warning too. Rather odd.

Bought another back of 2032 batteries and changed them both again. Now both keys are fine- no warnings. Go figure.

Well that wasn't long, not even 2 years from this last set of batteries lol. Got the low fob battery warning again. This time, after changing out the battery the warning remained. Tried the 'put the fob into the hole' approach. It quieted the warning on that start, but it came back on the next one. Next start I locked/unlocked the doors and opened the trunk using the fob a few times. That seems to have done it, no more battery warning for over a week now.

When I was in parts I changed lots of fob batteries as most people were too timid to do it and would rather have someone else break them so as to have somebody to blame. I always asked how many times the fobs were dropped. Why? Commonly the battery clip or holder has partially or pretty much completely come loose from the tiny bit of solder holding it on and of course that leads to problems like in this thread. I typically told customers that first so they were ready for it when I showed them how it was cracked loose or broke.
