Introducing the KATA Car MatThe Problem
When buying a car, it will often come with a felt cover that is placed on top of the car floor. Besides protecting the floor from dirt, the cover also muffles the noise from the engine. While a felt cover can be useful, there are clear limitations to using it. To start, dirt can stick to a felt surface very easily. It can also create moisture, emit awful odors and accumulate germs over time. However, there is one accessory that can be used to counter this problem and that is a car mat.
What is a Car Mat?
A car mat can protect the car floor from dirt, crumbs and moisture. It can also muffle the noise from the car’s engine, making the cabin nice and quiet. Car mats can be made from a wide range of materials such as rubber, leather and foam. While these materials can be nifty, they also have their inherent disadvantages, such as the accumulation of dirt and the build-up of moisture. Therefore, KATAVINA has taken upon itself to create a car mat that can truly be effective against any kind of dirt.
How is the KATA Car Mat designed?
The KATA Car Mat is made from flexible PVC, which enhances the durability and elasticity of the mat. It boasts a floating bead design on the top, which in turn creates grooves that increase friction between the occupants’ feet and the floor, preventing slippage. These grooves are also effective barriers against dirt and water, maintaining the car’s hygiene.
On the bottom of the mat, there are beads that stick onto the felt-covered car floor very tightly. This will prevent any damage that is inflicted onto the felt cover. The 2-sided design of the KATA Car Mat also acts as a cushion for sound-proofing the car’s cabin, since the bottom of the mat meets the car floor to disperse the engine’s sound, keeping the cabin quiet.
How is the KATA Car Mat made?
As stated before, the KATA Car Mat is made from flexible PVC, which has been certified by SGS Europe as safe for consumers. The mats are produced in sets, which will then fit each model and generation of a car. Before that, they are first designed as 2D sketches then re-designed in 3D on AutoCAD. Once the AutoCAD design is complete, the mats are then cut on CNC-based cutting machines that are accurate to the last millimeter. When the mat has been cut, it will then be softened and the surface is checked for structural integrity. A finely cut mat offers a flat and uniform surface.
Next, the edges of the mat are processed. The mat features two designs for the edges that customers can choose from. One is a modern hemming design that is achieved by a heat press machine. The other design is based on a more classic parachute-style woven pattern. After the edges have been processed, the mats are then tested one last time to make sure they fit onto the car floor and they stick well enough onto the car floor. Once the inspection is complete, the finished mat set will be cleaned and packed for final delivery to KATAVINA’s customers.
