I tried to search the forum for some guidance but saw only another question. Both of my Key fobs ar breaking and I need to replace them. Nisssan only provides complete new key fobs. The electronics are fine in mine, I just need new casings. I don't want to spend the outrageous money Nissan wants for them. Any one know any alternate suppliers?

How much is nissan charging?

I say just buy some off ebay and program it yourself. Thats the best way to do it. Let me know if you can't find a write up on programing the remotes.

Last time I checked they wanted $90 for Key fob itself plus programming. The total came to nearly $150.

After I started this thread I went to EBay and found some for $20.00. Since the electronics in mine are fine, all I will do is take the case off the ones I bought and put my electronics inside. No programming, nothing. I checked with the seller. They are replaceable.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate the comment.

I got 2 on eBay for $19 apiece with batteries. Easy to program.

REPROGRAM KEY FOB
Most Nissan Vehicles

To reprogram (enter new ID) key fob (keyless remote controller) follow the steps.

1. Close all doors and lock all doors

2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder more than six times within 10 seconds.
(The hazard warning lamp will then flash.)

NOTE:
Key should be withdrawn from ignition key cylinder completely each time.

NOTE:
Do not rush the insertion/removal key cycling process. The side marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this step is accurately completed.

3. Insert key on ignition key cylinder and turn ignition key switch to "AAC" position. At this time, the new ID code is entered and original (previous) ID codes are erase.

4. Press any button on the new remote controller once. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash)

NOTE:
Do not press the button more than one time in the above step. If the button is pressed more than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful. The side marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this step is accurately completed and programming is successful.

If there is only one remote controller skip step 5.

5. Additional ID code entry
Release the door lock, then lock again with door lock/unlock switch (In power window main switch)

6. Remove key from ignition

7. Unlock driver side door, open driver side door and then close the door.
(END)

NOTE:
If you need to activate more than two additional new remote controllers, repeat the procedure on step 5 "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote controller.

The remotes are on ebay for about $10 to $20. Carefully separate the remotes top from bottom (eyeglass screwdriver). Remove the guts and do the same in reverse for new remote casing. Hope this is helpful.
I just opened the FOB case using a dime in the insert just to make sure there was a battery in it. After that, I just did the programming. Of course I made sure I purchased the correct FOB for my make and year.

Unfortunately that is the only way Nissan sells them.

We have 30% until the end of this month. Maybe that would help???

I'm in the same boat you are gemoelle, my wife own's a 97 Maxima and the fob is broken from the little hook. The circuits are all fine and I can't find any rubber grip or plastic replacement. Where did you order your eBay key fob from? Do you know if they have more models?

I'm looking for reliable sources. eBay is so untrustworthy I don't know where to start.
