Need confirmation; cap goes before distribution block, correct?

My bf is redoing the system in the car. He's replacing the wiring w/ 4guage and is gonna do a distribution block in the trunk. The block is a (1)4gu->(4)8gu splitting for the 2 amps. But he just wants the cap to be inline with the sub amp. We have a L.A. 1.0farad cap and he wants to make sure it's ok to run it
block->cap->amp.
Would it split the power of the cap at all if we put it before the block or would be basically just need another cap?
Need confirmation. Thanks.

yeah, that would probably work, but I would put it in line with the sub amp only, that way all the power is reserved for all those bass hits. Highs playing wont really drain the battery as much.

If you've got more than one amp, get two separate distribution blocks...one for sub amps, one for highs/mids amp(s) and put the cap in line before the sub amp distribution block.
Yeah, mostly everyone i know puts the cap in the sub's power line, nothing else.
Yup yup yup.
The amp would draw power from the cap no matter where you put it... but the closer it is to the sub amp, the less resistance between the two.. at least that's my understanding..

Here's how mine is wired up... Power and ground go into distro-blocks... power and ground go directly from each distro-block to each amp (2 amps). Then the cap is also wired straight to the sub-amp. So the power and ground on my sub-amp each have to wires, one from the distro-block, one from the cap. Make sure you also charge the cap before you hook it up.

yeah, the cap is already on and working. but the way it's set up now is that there are 2 seperate power wires running to the battery. So he'll be pulling both those out and running just the one 4 guage to the rear. Also they are no distribution blocks so it's basically a newer wiring setup than what is in there now.
OK, lets keep this simple.

Is this fused distribution? If it is, DEFINITELY put it between the block and the amp.

If not, it doesnt matter either way.

(it probably really wont matter either way anyway, but it's best to keep your runs as short as possible.)
alright, i found this ina search and i just wanted to make sure i have everything right before i try to rewire my system........i am going to run thicker wires and add the cap that i have sitting in my closet(L.A. 1 farad cap).....................also i have two amps.................im just starting to learn car audio so bare with me =0).....................so i run the wire from the battery to the dist. block and then from there i run the wires from the the block to my cap to my sub amp and i run the other wires from my dist. block to my amp for my interior speakers...................... am i even close............ thanks for any help with this................

yes.. power wire goes to distro. distro splits into 2... we'll say A and B
A is for your subs, where you want the cap... so from the A terminal on distro you put cap, then sub amp.
from B you do as normally would do with that am..
and I'm guessing that it's fused distribution here also..

thanks.........and yeah it will most likely be a fused block(those are better right?), im gonna pick one up when i get the wires......................
Damn yall brought this one back from the dead...lol

You better make it fused distro....This may be just me, but Id rather pop a $5 fuse than a $300+ amp.

But maybe that's just ME! ;)
