I'm a new owner of a 2.5s and need to know if I can change the oil filter after getting the oil changed. I couldn't get the filter I wanted, but now I have it and would like to put it on the car. Since it is mounted on the side of the engine, can I change it without losing a lot of oil?? Have other owners done this and do you have pointers?? I know I should put some oil in the new filter before I screw it back on, but if it is possible to do this does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks.

Yes, you can remove and replace the filter without draining the oil. You will only lose the oil in the filter.

Replace the filter, check your oil level and fill to replace what was lost (usually no more than 8-10 ounces).

BTW the OEM Nissan filters are very good.

Congrats on your new ride! I hope you enjoy it!
