Hi Nissan Community,

I have a 2014 Pathfinder Platinum with 60k miles. My wife drives it and we purchased about a year ago with 39k miles. Last August the car would randomly run really bad once the car reached a quarter tank of gas or less. At that time I had no DTCs and couldn't find much related to the symptoms. Just recently the CEL came on. I scanned the codes and got PO171 and PO174. A day later I scanned and had PO302.

I looked up the codes, lean bank 1, lean bank 2, and pending code PO302 cylinder 2 misfire. When I ran the live data stream it appeared the MAF (0.49+) sensor was reading and responding normally along with the O2 sensors (around 0.9-1 both picking up signals). My initial thought is that perhaps the fuel filter is clogged or dirty injectors, however I have not found much regarding this error specific to the 2014 pathfinder specifically and thought to post here to see if others have encountered this. Specifically, when the gas is low and you accelerate medium 1/2 pedal or more, the car sputters/slugish and sounds like it's missing. Once filled up, the symptoms went away for the most part. However gradually the issue had become randomly worse even with more gas in the tank. Twice today the car shut off when starting. Gas mileage has decreased to 16mpg, which makes sense with the 171/174 lean back codes adding fuel. Any help on what this could be or items to test would be appreciated as I know have DTCs and need to fix this. Has anyone experienced similar issues with gas below a quarter tank seeming to drive the initial symptoms?

Thank you,

Thank you,
Iam very intrigued to find out if you solved your problems, Iam having similar issues, ty
I found several posts about this but no one posted the solution. A quick update since my last post. Gas Mileage decreased down to 13 mpg, PO302 and PO171 went away. Car drove sluggish and CEL now remained on. In my research I learned the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump assembly, and not knowing if it was the pump/filter you have to replace the whole unit. The Nissan dealer was less expensive than anywhere I could find, approximately $525, plus a little more for the rubber Gasket that fits between the tank and the fuel pump assembly. Since replacing this the issue is gone, no CEL, gas mileage back to normal. This wasn't the cheapest fix to start but was the most likely from what I researched. It was a very quick change, I did without even taking the seat out. If you fix your car, let the form know what the solution was also.
