I took my 2015 Versa to a Nissan dealer for a repair. While there the mechanic said there was water collecting in one of the tail lights. The Service Rep told me that if the light wasn't replaced, that it would damage the automatic transmission. Is there any truth to this claim of damage to the transmission due to water in a tail light?

I spoke to the service manager this morning. He says water in the tail light could short out to the back up light circuit and send a false signal to the automatic transmission. While that wouldn't damage the transmission it could cause a mechanic to think there's a problem and try to repair. I agree this is still BS and will not go to this dealer again. The dealer is formerly Nalley Nissan but is now Mike Rezi Nissan here in Atlanta. Appropriate comment will be made on yelp.com

^^Good for you! FYI, I'm partial to the Atlanta area...spent a fair bit of time back in the day in Buckhead and 'Naw-cross' :)
