I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the rearview mirror without ripping it off(2nd gen). I posted this a while ago and nobody had a answer so I thought I would try again.

stick something up in the little hole on the bottom (or was it top?) of the mounting post where it attaches to the windhsield, then pry that clip thingy back and it slides off the metal plate. sorry i can't detail it better, but thats how i got the metal thing out when my mirror fell off.

or you could use a lighter and heat up the adhesive then remove that metal piece. it worked for my friends Xterra without damaging the glass.

i think mine is coming off soon. the damn thing vibrates so bad that i cant even tell if a car is behind me.

mine has fallen off twice. and now, when i turn it up it loosens up and when i look up at the mirror its showin me my e-brake instead of my rear windshield . its a piece of junk, it rattles like hell too
