Slow ride

Look up SE-rious, I thought I read somewhere today that he is using that stuff now. He'd be able to tell you how it's workin for him:)
great, thanks for the info
Hey, That's Me...!

Yeah, I've been using the stuff for years now.
Both in my SE-R and in my 3.5 Alty.
As far as the +5 hp claim goes, don't know!
I don't think I'll spend the $$$ on a dyno
for that. However, the bottle does claim it
increases horsepower. Generally, it goes for
about $5.25 a qt and you won't find it at
Wal-Mart.

The stuff looks like grape syrup!
Try it...you'll like it! In the car that is. :D

isn't it hard to see if your oil is dirty with it being
purple??

So where do ya buy it? Or are they on the net?
SE-Rious, thanks for the reply, How many miles were on your 3.5 before you put royal purple in? I have just over 2000 miles on mine, had the oil changed at dealership at 1000, Do you think it would be safe to switch to royal at my next oil change?
I have been using royal purple in my firebird for the last 20,000 miles, changing it every 5,000. I have been very happy with it, when I take it out, it looks just like when I put it in. I have read many good things about it. I buy it from www.oiltown.com
Silver Bird and Royal Purple

Good Combo... Can`t get it here Silver but Mobile 1 is available and you can honestly feel the difference. No kidding. Probably be replacing my tires sooner than most.
Ratwayne:
Thanks, mobile 1 is a good oil as well. The only oils that I would use in my car would be mobile 1, redline or royal purple. Some hot-rod mag. did a test several years back with an Impalla SS and gained several hp by switching the trans fluid, rear end fluid and motor oil to red line synthetic.
I was thinkng about using Royal Purple...

...but then after doing quite bit of research on the net, I figured that I don't really need it.

I considered Royal Purple, Amsoil and Mobile 1. I Decided to go Mobile 1 as Royal Purple and Amsoil are great in racing and turbo cars but - I have neither. I figured - well, why pay about 2x more than for Mobile 1 - just so I can say I have it?

I plan changing every 5000 miles anyway.

It is not like I drive a Viper, but Altima, right?

Just my opinion. You of couse do what you feel confortable with.

That's right, if you were driving a Viper you would have to put synthetic in it to keep the motor in one piece. Your Altima with dino-oil will outlast a Viper with synthetic anyday!

If it looks the same as when you put it in, then its not doing its job of keeping the engine clean. Oil coming out dark after being in the engine means its keeping the engine clean of deposits, etc. That means the oil is still working, and it doesn't mean if its dark its bad.
Russ2kSE
I meant it looks the same as in the thickness. I have seen some oils that when you take them out, they are noticable thicker (chunky), because they got to hot. Because the oil is purple, it is hard to tell if it is darker or not.
doesn't anybody use castrol syntec?

it's a full synthetic i've used on my last car. i have to wait for my break-in period to use it.
ummm...the oils job is lubrication.

If oil is dark, that means the oil is breaking down due to heat, pressure, etc. If it looks the same as it went in....you could extend your drain interval.
Oil Smell!

Russ what are your thoughts on a burnt smell on the dip stick?

Does it mean the oil is breaking down or just doing its job? No flame intended. I always wondered, some say to up thickness ,others say the oil is breaking down(cheap oil) etc.

Slowride, you're going down the same path I traveled!
1K used up free oil change at dealership.
4K swithced to RP and will continue to use...

I buy the stuff from my dealership where I have a 10%
discount. You can also buy it at NAPA Auto Parts Stores.
