I plan on changing my valve cover gasket this weekend. Cause I have some time and cause that area is gunked up pretty badly. I also plan on removing my upper timing chain guide. Never really messed with anything major on the car before other than take apart the cap and rotor and change the spark plug wires, so I'm pretty new to this stuff. Shouldn't be too bad from what I searched through and read.

Anyway, I was wondering what's a good sealant to use for the gasket. My car is just a daily driver and I live in the midwest so I don't think my car will get too hot. I have a bottle of NAPA RTV sealant already from when I tried to patch a leaky hole in my trunk so I was wondering if that will be alright or if I'll have to get something a little better. Is there something a bit better suited which I could use or would I be more than fine with what I got already?

I'd suggest Permatex Super Black....

plus the black doesn't look bad when it squeezes out...

remember though: to much silicone is just as bad as not enough...to much could break off and go slinging in your engine!
