Hello, looking for a little help here. I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima in which none of my steering control buttons work including my horn. I took it for a diagnostic test and got these codes P1564 with some secondary DTC and codes C1107, C1126, and last C1103. Can someone help me please? Thanks

Did you ever figure your situation with your steering controls? Sorry I know this was some time back but I was just wondering if you were ever able to figure that out. If not I might be able to point you in the right direction possibly.

The steering controls are faulty due to wear and tear on tuning the steering wheel. You would have to remove the steering wheel to access what's called a "clock spring" which controls the steering buttons. I just recently purchased a Haynes repair Manuel for my 05 Nissan cause I'm battling bank1 below threshold code P0420 code. But as I remembered seeing your post some time back I did see in the Manuel about this problem. But it's called a "clock spring" but you will have to remove the steering wheel. I also, steering controls don't work plus the horn, volume, etc. But I will also be replacing this "clock spring" myself.

Why are you battling a P0420 catalytic converter? The catalytic converter is either good or a sensor is causing it to be interpreted as bad. No battle here.......

Simply look at the upstream A/F sensor (many people call this an oxygen sensor, but in reality it's a ratio sensor). It's located upstream of the catalytic converter installed in the exhaust manifold. Know how to interpret the data numbers. If the numbers look good..........

......next thing to do would be to have an emissions pollutant PPM test performed on the vehicle. This is not a "smog inspection". This is a service where a smog technician uses a gas analyzer probe (smog machine) to sample the actual emissions physically exiting the exhaust.

This will definitively determine if the catalytic converter is infact bad when the A/F numbers are good.

When cat goes bad sensor 2 then begins to oscillate volts more like sensor 1. Change sensor 2 and if not that then cat is bad.

ALL O2 type sensors are oxygen ones as that is how they work. Nissan calls the front one an A/F sensor as that one is determining the fuel ratio for engine tuning. The back one is simply a cat condition checker. Nissan calls the names different to distinguish which is which as one can have longer wiring even though it is the same sensor. Like calling the second thermostat the water control valve when it is actually the true thermostat. You have to have some way of sorting the parts out to avoid mistakes.
