Seeing a few topics about the tail light tinting here but none thats answering my question. Ive been told 2 things. one that you have to replace the tail light and the other that you can put a film strip on it just like your windows. which method is better and cheaper?? if it matter i have the 2.0 s

Mine were actually painted and clear coated so there won't be any bubbling and stuff like you could get with the overlay. The overlay is a lot cheaper though. You dont have to replace the tail light to do this. It would be better to get another pair on ebay or at a junk yard for cheap in case you mess your first pair up.

I never have been rear ended my friend that works at a body shop used some tranparent paint so it still shines thru pretty bright and besides the third brake light is still their so havent had any problems. I also was kinda scared when I first did them when the po po's would be behind me at the stop light but they havent gave me a ticket . I have had them on the car for like year and half because I hated the factory tail lights.
