If I am reading this correctly you are introducing a new set of TPMS transmitters to the system, correct ?

if so they will need to be programmed to the system, there is no getting around it , and if you were to switch back to sensor set #1 they would also need to be programmed.

The TPMS system is configured to only recognize 4 transmitter RFID's at a time.

Maybe if you ask nicely when you go in for service they'll do it for you.

Hope this answers your question.

The best answer I've seen on how it works is from user: Nissan-MasterTech
In this thread: http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/20...ma-discussion-2-5-3-5/342994-how-does-tire-transfer-its-pressure-level-car.html

"The system uses RF transmitters located in each tire, each transmitter has it's own unique RF ID number.

The system utilizes 3 antennas located on the vehicle to receive the data from the transmitters.

The system uses a triangulation formula to determine the position of each transmitter and it reported pressure to the TPMS system."

I don't think the ID's matter, the sensors pick up what is there and determine the position. Can anyone confirm this for sure? Nissan-MasterTech??
Sorry for the late reply but ... Anyway

To answer your question.

The TPMS transmitter I.D's do matter .

For instance , let's say another Altima pulled up next to you with TPMS and lets say the system does not need to recognize TPMS I.D's. So theoretically the TPMS system in your car could pick up the RF signal from his sensors and report a low tire condition from his tires if it existed. Get it ?

Each TPMS sensor has it's own unique I.D number, the system will only recognize the TPMS sensor I.D's that are programmed to the system to avoid the above mentioned scenario .

Hope this helps your understanding. :smile
