I found an 09 for sale local with a bad auto transmission so I was wondering if there was anything needed to be done with the ecu after swapping out the old trans for the new [well, used]?

I know on the previous gen all you had to do was disconnect the battery for a couple of days to reset the ecu. Then drive the car with the new trans for about 45 minutes so the ecu could relearn the shift points.

However, I can't seem to find out anything about the 09 trans.

The EEPROM in the TCM needs to be reset.

Unless you have a scan tool that can communicate with the TCM you may need to take it to the dealership or shop that has the scanner to do it.
