Since I've change my front end, I've got a bunch of old car parts in my room collecting dust. So I figured I'd go ahead and play with my old headlights. I've thought about doing retrofits in the past but never got to it, so now I'm starting. I've never done any work like this. I'm using this thread to keep track of what I'm doing, share with other first-timers, and maybe have the masters at this chime in and help.

My goal with my 02-04 headlights is to just slap some halos on them and paint the housing matte black, just to test the waters. Then I'll start messing with my 05-06 headlights once I know the basics.

I've already bake them open:

Then added adhesion promoter:

Added a couple layers of gloss black paint:

How they look now:

This is going to be a slow process. I'll be doing this in between school, work, and other stuff I attend. I think this will be pretty cool to do. I know this may not be the easy "mod" to do, but I want to learn anyway.

Since I'm waiting for some halos, I'd figure I'd go ahead and clear up the lenses. They weren't too bad but still had that yellow tint.

I followed this video to clear them up:

Wet-sanded with 600 grit first then 1500 grit.

Then let it dry and spray on clear coat. And it looks like this (bottom one)^

Comparing the two. The one on the right is the cleared one.

Both cleared.

What they look like with the housing on.
