WAI...Losing power ??

Alright...I just pust a WAI on my 94 auto alty, from a dead stop punching the gas it feels like it has no guts...but round about 3 grand it starts pulling like mad and 4 grand the tone of the intake/exhast changes to a nice growl...my only complaint is the lack of power off the line.....any ideas ?

BTW..It's a ractive heatshield filter and adapter plate with the tube from the factory air box sitting in front of it.

I have same thing, I expected to have gain off line, but nothing till 3-4 grand, my intake is just the AEM cone I got from Friend.
I believe CAI are better for low end and wai are better for high end. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
I just did the exact same thing as you last thursday. I have nothing down low but when it gets to 3000 it wont stop pulling.
It feels like i DID lose power too. I dont know how to balance it out. But i was thinking about adding piping to the filter from the adapter . I read this also gives you more of a gain and somethig else too but i forgot. I was going to go with about 8'' of 3" tubing . Ill let you know what it yields.
I was thinking about picking up a adapter from Ractive that adds tubing that slips over the end of the heat shield and turns it into a makeshift CAI...dunno yet...cheaper than the PR CAI :D
I friggen love my WAI but I dont get a lot of kick until around 3 or 4 either but I think its alot better with it. So you think that you are going to make yourself a CAI? let me know
hey vin i read recently if i connect a tube from the adapter plate to the filter and extend it about 8-10 inches ill have a much better intake system. Im gonna give it a try. I just dont know where to put it. Should i wedge it next to the battery?? or should i cut out that hole where you tear out that stock black tubing when you upgrade to a wai and then wedge it inside that crevice? Any thoughts?

I think you should put it in that crevice because youll get more air flow are you going to PVC piping? those are just my thoughts but Im sure some others would be more helpful. Let me know what your going to do....I think you need some hi temp paint
Someone had this dyno'ed....the WAI produces more horsepower in the real thick of the powerband and up high, but it does reduce low end torque. Mine's the same way....hesitates a little more than stock airbox, but once it goes over 3 grand, no comparison.

agreed
Im gonna go metal. I dont think you can go any other way. I have to bolt on the piping to the adapter. I dont want to do that with PVC and take a chance of it cracking. Im gonna check it all out tomorrow when i get home from school. If i can find a spot to drop that filter into ill have it done tomorrow.
And yes, after 3000 you get the power. But i read that if you make a connecting piece like in the weapon R intake youll get more HP and torque. I dont know. ill keep everyone briefed.

that dual exhaust probably makes you lose a couple ft-lb of torque too.

damn i was gonna get that done.
It's actually single until it hits the muffler then its single through the muffler and splits to dual at the last inch or so...but yeah I lost a little off the line when I installed it..

same problem here it's because the altima has no balls off the line I think you'll find that you lose less low power with the WAI rather than the CAI trust me on this one. JMO
get a pulley for more power off the line.....i still have not installed mine yet....
