What is the hottest temp your CPU should hit before it is in the danger zone?

AMD if it matters.

I have a 1GHz AMD Althon in my PC. First installed, it ran between 60 and 65 Celcius with no problems. I have done a lot in the way of cooling, and run CPU Cool. It is at 41C now, and will ususally top out gaming at around 47C.

If I remember correctly, the max you would want to let it get to would be about 90C before damage begins, past 100C and you may as well plan on a new chip.

For more info, try www.amd.com as they have a good bit of technical documentation available online.

i remember hearing that it's 70C.. but that was a while ago..

check out www.guideontech.com . there's lots of info there about cooling..

mine's currently at 39C... with the 'stock fan',.. when i raise the bus speed, it goes up to about 45-49 no load conditions..

it f'in heats up my room too much though.. stupid parents not turning on a/c...

Seriously. When i have my computer, tv and stereo on in my bedroom, it's like a 10 degree difference from the rest of the house, lol. It's great in the winter, but the summer, ugh :D
